Our Social Cause: Hough Reads 2018 - present Brand Development, Media Relations, Fundraising,
event coordination, project management This Little Free Library Neighborhood Initiative, placed-based literacy campaign, is our pet project. The goal is to decrease
this community’s 95 percent adult illiteracy rate, at least 3 percent, over the next 5 years by uniting the community around improving literacy, igniting an overall love for reading, encouraging the exchange of free books and changing the optics.
As crazy as it may sound, we committed to host at least one literacy-based event per month from April 2018 to April
2019 with zero funding. A huge undertaking, but we’re up for it. We started with what we know, brand development, then garnered support from community and civic leaders to coordinate read-alouds, book-giveaways and other events unique to this neighborhood with a 7-week long Family Literacy Night in conjunction with Cleveland’s Ward 7 Councilman Basheer Jones, The Hough Branch of Cleveland Public Library and VoiceIt Radio being our most successful. And, that’s when we learned what we’re really up against. We’ve also secured a $2500 grant from Neighborhood Connections and launched a $1 crowd-sourcing campaign with
IOBY, where we raised $3,309 to cover the cost of developing an outdoor media campaign and establishing a digital
presence. Exciting is the best way to describe the first year of Hough Reads and we look forward to a bright future. Video: Client Testimonial: "I am writing on behalf of Rhonda Crowder and her team at Rhonda Crowder and Associates (RCA)
on an incredible first year of Hough Reads. In 2018, Hough Reads became the second neighborhood-
wide literacy program under the umbrella of Little Free Libraries. Rhonda's talents engaged stakeholders
and community members alike. They developed the branding of the program, secured grant and
private funding, brought the program media attention and coordinated community outreach events
throughout the year at a variety of locations. As the representative of one of those locations,
historic League Park, I commend without hesitation RCA accomplishments as the lead on Hough Reads and look forward to what comes next. —Margaret Reardon Administrator Baseball Heritage Museum Client Client Opportunities in Construction 2017 - present Branded Content Development, Media Relations, project management community
engagement, event coordination There is a labor shortage in Northeast Ohio’s construction and skilled trade industry. There are over 205k jobs in Ohio and the industry is projected to add 740k jobs 2024 as major development projects are slated and a large portion of the existing workforce nears retirement. At the same time, there’s myths and stereotypes that deter people from pursuing these careers with an average salary of $66k/year, not including benefits. Wanting to take a grassroots approach to addressing this issue, Construction Employers Association (CEA) hired CLC Stokes Consulting Group who in turn hired us to serve as the project manager for what we dubbed as “Opportunities in Construction” when asked, “What will we call it?” We worked directly with CEA and CLC to develop and manage an outreach strategy targeting adult females and males across Cuyahoga County, who are interested in pursuing opportunities in the construction and skilled trade industry or exploring career change..

project management, event coordination Who’s Who Publishing/Real Times Media is the brand that launch our brand. To us, that’s how business, when
done right, works. One company begets another. Since 2013, once Rhonda Crowder became associate publisher,
we’ve worked diligently to expand this brand’s reach within the Northeast Ohio market. Every year marked
significant growth in one way or another leading to the 13th edition (2018) being the most attended and profitable. Because we’ve done such an outstanding job in Cleveland, or so we like to think, we’ve been called upon by
Who’s Who leadership to assist with developing content for the Who’s Who in Black Houston, Charlotte, Atlanta,
and Washington DC books. Who’s Who in Black Cleveland is so special to us for so many reasons. Now, what we wish to do is begin planning for succession. If we’ve learned nothing else from working with this project, it is the importance of preparing the next
generation of leadership within our businesses and communities.
